Opportunities in administration
British Red Cross Tracing and Message Volunteers help to re-unite families separated by war and disaster. The role can involve interviewing people who have lost contact with a relative because of war or disaster.
Credit Union Counter Clerks help to provide an alternative to mainstream banking which is unavailable to so many people. Volunteers help out on the counters at credit union shops all over the borough, and help members of the public with their financial transactions.
Volunteering with children
CSV/RSVP Reading Support Volunteers spend a couple of hours a week in a local primary school listening to children read.
English Heritage Garden Detectives lead local school children on a voyage of discovery, exploring the grounds and gardens at Brodsworth Hall.
Opportunities in animal welfare
Dogs Trust Freedom Project volunteers carry out monitoring visits on dogs being looked after in foster homes because their owners are fleeing domestic violence.
Rossington Hall RDA Animal Care Volunteers help take care of the horses that are ridden by people with disabilities, including feeding, grooming, tacking and cleaning.
Health and social care volunteers
Age Concern Performance and Arts Volunteers help older people learn how to sing, dance, play a musical instrument, or develop creative skills through art.
Royal British Legion Welfare Case Workers visit ex –service personnel and help them to access a range of welfare support services such as respite care, financial assistance, and disability/mobility equipment.
Volunteering in local communities
Avalunch Volunteers prepare, cook, serve and deliver healthy food to local people who need it.
Mexborough Allotments Society Volunteers help local children and young people plan and execute their own horticultural projects.
