Free health check

Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) is offering a free NHS health check to people in Doncaster aged between 40 and 70 years on Thursday 9 February.

The check, which is taking place at the Talking Shop, 63 Hallgate, Doncaster, is a quick and simple review of core risk factors associated with type 2 diabetes, renal disease, stroke and heart disease. People will also receive tailored advice on how to stay fit and healthy.

People can drop into the Talking Shop between 9am and 3pm, or can book an appointment in advance by ringing (01302) 565650.

The check takes around 20 minutes and includes:

  • Questions about health and family history
  • Measurement of height and weight
  • Blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose tests
  • An opportunity for the attendee to ask any related health questions
  • Practical advice for the future.

People are eligible for a free NHS health check if they:

  • Live in Doncaster or are registered with a Doncaster GP
  • Aged 40 to 74
  • Haven’t already had a cardiovascular (CV) risk or Test Your Health assessment
  • Are not receiving treatment for heart disease, blood pressure, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, high cholesterol or stroke.
