The Northern College provide a two year Cert Ed/PGCE teaching qualification in conjunction with the University of Huddersfield.

We offer a curriculum which starts from where the students are, building on the experience of life and work that they bring with them, providing opportunities to acquire the knowledge, skills and the fresh approach that they need.

This is an award of the University of Huddersfield. Whether you work towards the Certificate in Education or the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education depends on whether you have a degree or not – everyone is taught in class together.

It is essential that you hold a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in the subject you want to teach.

As part of the in-service pathway, you will be required to complete a subject specialist module. This requires 4 full days of attendance at the University of Huddersfield during Year 2.
