Artsplan, the training and publications arm of Artswork, the national youth arts development agency, is pleased to announce it will be delivering the 6-day accredited course ‘Young People, the Arts and Social Inclusion’ at Kala Sangam in Bradford.
Artsplan is the largest provider of specialist youth arts training courses and publications in the UK, and the in-house training provider of ENYAN (English National Youth Arts Network). All Artsplan trainers involved have a wide range of skills, experience and understanding developed whilst working within the Youth Arts sector.
This 6-day course is accredited with Middlesex University. It provides an induction into the benefits of using the arts with socially excluded young people, and the tools, skills and knowledge to needed to run a successful youth arts project within this context. The course is split into 6 units over a total of 30 hours contact with a trainer, with another 90 hours of research and assignment time expected. The course will examine the practical issues involved in using the arts with vulnerable young people, at every stage of project planning and delivery, including child protection, behaviour management, partnership working, marketing and evaluation. All participants will receive relevant Artsplan publication resources as part of the course. Assessment is covered in three ways by a journal from the participant, a written assignment and a discussion on their practice and relevant future plans.
The course an excellent opportunity for those wishing to be involved with using the arts to help socially excluded young people and is also a chance for participants to gain a useful accreditation. The accreditation you will gain will be 20 credits at Level 2, awarded by Middlesex University, demonstrating your level of understanding of this important subject area.
Previous participant Naomi Taylor comments “I can't emphasise enough that the course really was fantastic - inspirational and interesting and has left me feeling much more equipped to create the projects that I have been wanting to for ages”.
Prices for each course, which include accreditation, lunch and refreshments, a range of publications and additional training resources range from £420 to £320. One bursary is also available. If you sign up for free to www.enyan.co.uk (The English National Youth Arts Network) you can request 5% off course fees, if you book two or more places with us you can request a further 10% off course fees.
