Training and Assessment for NVQ 3 & 4 in Advice & Guidance – Supported by the Enhancement Fund

Prospects have secured funding from the Enhancement Fund to deliver Training and Assessment for NVQ 3 & 4 in Advice & Guidance in the South Yorkshire area (Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield)

 The funding is available to anyone working in an advice setting with clients from any age group, 16 upwards, though in the first instance for workers in SMEs, and the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sectors.

Eligibility and cost

•    The training and assessment is fully funded for organisations that employ less than 250 staff.
•    Those employing more than 250 people are still eligible for the programme, but will need to contribute 40% of the cost. For level 3 NVQ the employer contribution will be £346.40, and for NVQ level 4 the employer contribution will be £348.80.

Applicants for this programme must be currently undertaking an appropriate advice-giving role, working directly with clients for a minimum of one day per week.

We would expect that many candidates will be applying for the NVQ L3.  Where an individual has substantial experience of in-depth guidance work and/or already holds the NVQ 3 in Advice & Guidance we will be happy to support them to achieve the level 4.

What’s Involved

The programme consists of 1 day induction and 2 days interview skills training delivered locally. This is followed by monthly tutorial support (telephone and face-to-face) and assessment feedback (via the ‘Ecordia’ online portfolio-building system). Workplace assessment of interview practice and other performance-related evidence (e.g. client records) will take place as appropriate.

All training and assessment must be completed by the end of March 2011. With this in mind we want to recruit as quickly as possible in order to enable participants to complete by this deadline. We will not be able to support candidates beyond this date without further funding.

Course Date(s)

13, 14 and 15 April; 20, 27 and 29 April;
11, 12 and 13 May.
