Department of Health Third Sector Investment Programme: Innovation, Excellence and Service Development Fund 2011-12
13th August 2010
The Department of Health has made funding available to the Third Sector under the following funding strands: Innovation, Excellence and Service Development.
Projects must also be aligned to one of the 5 cross cutting themes:
- Patient- led NHS
- Delivering better health outcomes
- Autonomy & Accountability
- Improving public health
- Improving long term conditions
Applications must not be for service delivery and must have national significance. They need to be submitted by 12 noon on November 1st 2010. Currently funding is available for only a year and there is no limit to the amount that can be applied for.
The 2011-12 closes to applications on Monday 1st November at 12:00 noon. All awards from April 2011 are subject to the outcome of the spending review, which will be known in the Autumn. We are heading into a period of reduced resources and all budgets are subject to close scrutiny. The launch of this scheme does not commit DH to the funding of any grant awards from April 2011. We are launching the scheme now to maintain operational continuity and to demonstrate our commitment to working within the principles of the Compact to avoid any unnecessary gaps in funding flows to the Third Sector.
You should read the Information Pack carefully as there are changes to the scheme; the eligibility rules; and the funding strands, themes and priorities for funding from 2011-2012. There are also improvements to the on-line application system. The Information Pack provides third sector organisations with information to help them decide if this funding stream is applicable to both their organisation and the proposed activity they are seeking funding for. It details the funding themes for 2011-12, the priority areas for each theme and the criteria we will use for assessing applications. A timetable is provided for the whole process from application through to decision.
