Health & Social Care Forum
The forum is made up of health and social care voluntary organisations in Doncaster that are interested in working together. It formed in late 2010 to enable voluntary organisations to work effectively together and with key stakeholders through the wide ranging policy and structural changes in this field.
The forum is attended by senior officers from a range of voluntary organisations and holds monthly meetings. It aims to inform the wider sector of its work and progress through Doncaster CVS e-news updates.
The forums priorities for 2011-12 are:
1. Health & Wellbeing Board
The forum wishes to understand the function and operating framework for the new Health & Wellbeing Board, and to advocate for appropriate third sector involvement.
2. Clinical Commissioning Group
The forum recognises that this is a significant new development in commissioning and aims to promote awareness and understanding of the sector within the consortium, develop new relationships with individual practices and the consortium, and assist the consortium in working with the sector.
3. Joint Strategic Needs Assessment
Some members of the forum will work together to undertake a pilot with the PCT on third sector involvement in the JSNA.
4. Health Watch
The forum will be updated on developments with Health Watch, to understand the potential role of the sector in it.
5. Commissioning
The forum is interested in working with commissioners to raise awareness of the sector, support needs identification, and promote accessible practices for the sector including work to develop the market. The forum is also interested in exploring new ways of working together such as consortia within the sector and developing relationships with other providers.
6. Staying engaged with changing structures and new contacts
There will be a great deal of local change in this year in structures, contacts and policy framework. It will be important for the sector to remain updated on these changes throughout, to forge new relationships as necessary and to create new opportunities for collaborative work.
